Physical therapists (PTs) who treat pelvic floor dysfunction are considered pelvic floor or women’s health PTs. Some PTs are able to treat men; some are not.
Here at Ability PT, we are able to treat both men and women using internal and external techniques, and we have tools such as computer biofeedback to assist in providing objective measurements of success.
The three functions of the pelvic floor are 1) organ support, 2) bowel and bladder control, and 3) sexual appreciation. If you are experiencing “dysfunction” in any of these areas, a pelvic floor PT may be able to help. During a pelvic floor examination, please be prepared for an internal assessment.
